Mobile Phone Chargers are one of the types of electrical appliances used in the home that can cause fires by overheating. Only plug in the charger when you are charging a phone.

Halogen down lights generate a lot of heat in a small space. When changing the bulbs, ensure that wiring is kept away from the bulb. Keep loft insulation away from the down lights to prevent scorching.

If using an electrical appliance in the garden, make sure that it is plugged into a socket that is protected by an RCD. If your Consumer Supply Unit (fusebox) does not have an RCD, use a plug-in RCD socket or fit an RCD plug to the appliance.
